Coconut
Coconut has been trotting her way into hearts at Walkabout since 2018, and at 12 years old, she’s grown from a spunky youngster into a wise and wonderful therapy partner. (Though don’t worry - she’s still got plenty of playful energy to go around!)
With her sweet spirit and curious nature, Coconut is always the first to check out what’s going on - whether it’s a new person in the barn or a suspiciously crinkly snack bag. She lives for making connections and is a total natural when it comes to helping people feel safe and seen.

Coconut might be small in size, but she’s big on heart - and we’re so lucky to have her on the team.
Don’t let her size fool you - Sweet Pea may be one of the smallest horses at Walkabout, but she’s got a heart that’s larger than life! At 13 years old, this little lady lives up to her name in every possible way.
She’s gentle, kind, and always ready with a soft nuzzle or a quiet moment of comfort. Whether she’s working with participants or just spreading sunshine around the barn, Sweet Pea brings a calm, loving energy that’s totally contagious.

Poppy
Say hello to Poppy, the newest member of the Walkabout family! At 10 years old, she’s already stealing hearts left and right with her sweet, snuggly personality.
Poppy is the type of horse who lives for making new friends and giving out endless love. Whether you’re offering a treat or just a little chin scratch, Poppy’s all in - and she’s ready to show you just how much affection she’s got to give.

Poppy’s heart is as big as the barn, and we’re beyond excited to see her grow into her role here at Walkabout.
True to her name, Sassy brings the spice to Walkabout - and we wouldn’t have it any other way! At 20 years old, she’s got a personality that’s larger than life, with just the right amount of attitude to keep everyone on their toes.
But don’t let her sass fool you - underneath all that flair is a total sweetheart who loves deeply and gives her all to the people she connects with. She may toss her mane like a diva, but she’s also the first to lean in for a nuzzle or offer a quiet moment of comfort.

Apollo
Apollo joined the Walkabout family in 2019, arriving with his buddy Molson from the amazing folks at Long Run Thoroughbred Retirement Society. Since then, he’s been bringing calm confidence and cool charm to the farm.
With his laidback personality and wise, old-soul energy, Apollo is the kind of horse who makes you feel at ease the moment you're near him. He’s all about relaxed hangs, thoughtful interactions, and being that steady companion everyone needs.

He may not be the flashiest in the herd, but Apollo has a subtle spark that draws people in - the kind of quiet charisma that makes him unforgettable.
Say hello to Monty, one of the newest (and biggest!) members of the Walkabout crew! He joined the family in 2024, and at 21 years old, he's already made a huge impression - in size and sweetness.
Standing tall among the herd, Monty might look like a powerhouse… but underneath that big, beautiful frame is a total softie with a puppy dog personality. He’s curious, cuddly, and absolutely loves making new friends - both human and horse!

Gracie
At 25 years young (birthday: March 1st), Gracie is Walkabout Farm’s resident sweetheart - and the definition of an old soul with a gentle spirit.
She’s calm, kind, and always the first to offer quiet comfort to anyone who needs it. Whether she’s meeting someone new or standing beside a familiar friend, Gracie has a way of making you feel completely safe and seen.
But don’t let her angelic nature fool you - this girl LOVES a good nap. Gracie is a professional sleeper and can doze off literally anywhere (standing, laying down, mid-grooming... you name it).
Gracie’s favorite things:

Gentle, wise, and just the tiniest bit spoiled - Gracie is truly the heart of Walkabout. And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Valentino, lovingly known as Tino, is 21 years young and one of the OG superstars here at Walkabout Farm!
Tino is the definition of laidback luxury. He’s all about long naps, easy vibes, and soaking up all the attention. Whether he’s chilling in the pasture or leaning in for some head scratches, this guy’s got a heart as big as his fan club.

Tino might play it cool, but he’s one of our biggest-hearted helpers - a true Walkabout legend who makes everyone feel like they belong.
Valentino
Jenny
Meet Jenny “Jennifer,” one of the newest members of the Walkabout Farm herd! Jenny is a 15-year-old Hanoverian mare with a beautiful black coat and a sweet personality.
Jenny is still getting settled into life at Walkabout Farm and taking her time getting to know her new home, herd mates, and people. She’s currently continuing her training and isn’t quite ready to take on much programming just yet—but we’re excited to see where her journey takes her!

In Loving Memory
Casey
Casey passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2020. As Walkabout’s second rescue, Casey, like Chewbacca, was saved from slaughter and joined our family in 2019. From the moment he arrived, he quickly became a cherished part of our community, spending the rest of his life safe, comfortable, and deeply loved.
Known as our gentle giant, Casey’s immense size was matched only by his kind and gentle spirit. He will be profoundly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Chewbacca
Chewbacca passed away on February 5, 2022. As Walkabout’s very first horse, Chewbacca held a special place in our hearts. Rescued from slaughter, he found his forever home at Walkabout with Jenn, where he became a beloved member of our community.
Chewy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Jasper
Jasper, our oldest pony, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving guardians and friends. He arrived at Walkabout with Gracie in 2018 and spent the remainder of his days cherished, well cared for, and thoroughly spoiled.
Jasper will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing him.
Julia de Brio
On August 18, 2026 our family said goodbye to a truly extraordinary horse.
Born in 1997 and imported to Canada in 2006, Julia lived a remarkable life. She was a Grand Prix show jumper, a broodmare, and, later, a cherished therapy horse. Throughout every chapter of her life, she touched countless people with her strength, wisdom, presence, and gentle spirit.
When Julia came to Walkabout Farm, it was time for a different kind of life. Her days of competition and work were behind her, and she was given something she had more than earned: an all-access pass to the farm.
She was free to wander wherever she pleased, graze where she wanted, explore the property, live peacefully within her mixed herd, and simply be a horse. She spent her golden years free-range and on her own terms, surrounded by the people and animals who loved her.
Julia was so much more than a therapy horse. She was a teacher, a companion, a steady presence, and a quiet reminder that sometimes the greatest gift we can give another living being is the freedom to simply be.
Today’s loss is exceptionally difficult. There are no words big enough to express the privilege and honour of being her caretaker and guardian. To be entrusted with the final chapter of the life of such a remarkable mare was a gift that will be carried forever.
Julia gave so much of herself throughout her long and extraordinary life. She had spent years giving, teaching, competing, caring, and connecting. In her final years, she was given the chance to simply enjoy being Julia—and she did so beautifully.
Now, she is finally free from every burden, running young again in the greenest pastures.
Run free, regal mare.
Thank you for everything you gave.
Thank you for every lesson.
Thank you for every moment.
And thank you for allowing us the incredible honour of loving you.
You will forever be a part of Walkabout Farm and forever hold a place in our hearts.
